On Saturday 20th August we played for the wedding of Anne-Marie and Joe as they got married at Avington Park, near Winchester. Avington Park is a large 17th Century stately home that is privately owned. You can hire it out exclusively for weddings, which is pretty cool. The grounds are large and well maintained, and there is a beautiful, large convervatory out the back which is a lovely place to be.
We played as the guests accumulated in the ceremony room. We then played Pachelbel Canon for the bridal entrance, Jason Mraz – I’m Yours, and Colbie Caillat – Lucky for the signing of the register, and finally Mendelssohn’s Wedding March for the recessional.
We then moved promptly downstairs so we could play for some of the drinks reception. We had some good requests here – Elbow’s One Day Like This, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, Cantina Band, Game Of Thrones and the music from Pirates of the Caribbean!
We packed up promptly as we had another wedding to dash off to, all the way down at Upwalthams Barn in West Sussex, so we bid cheerio and were on our way!
Look closely in the picture below and you’ll see Anna and Ruth when we first arrived!
