Jemma and Steven were married at the Balmer Lawn Hotel in the New Forest, Hampshire. We were booked to provide string quartet music throughout the drinks reception
We enjoyed playing at the Balmer Lawn Hotel on Bank Holiday Monday for the wedding of Jemma and Steven. Bank Holiday Monday in August is a popular date for summer weddings in the New Forest. We’re sure to leave really early to beat any traffic as we know the roads which get clogged up quickly!
We were booked to play in the drinks reception, and the couple had requested a comprehensive selection of our classical repertoire. We enjoyed playing pieces such as Vivaldi’s “La Caccia”, Puccini Nessun Dorma, Tchaikovsky Waltz of the Flowers, Verdi’s Drinking Song, Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Handel’s Water Music, Elgar’s Nimrod, Karl Jenkins’ Palladio. We also enjoyed playing some of their more modern requests such as Stevie Wonder Signed Sealed Delivered, Bruno Mars Just The Way You Are, and a TBQ Classic, Elbow’s One Day Like This.
We had a lovely time, and enjoyed taking some requests from the guests – such as a request for Vivaldi’s Spring as they’d enjoyed listening to it on a recent holiday to Venice. We duly obliged!
Built originally in the mid 1800’s as a hunting lodge, the Balmer Lawn Hotel is a classic Country House Hotel set in the very heart of the New Forest National Park
